What is permanent jewelry?

If you've stumbled across the term permanent jewelry and had your curiosity piqued, you're in the right place.

Permanent jewelry, welded jewelry, or sometimes known as forever or infinity bracelets, are a relatively new concept in the jewelry world, having just blossomed in the past three years.

Permanent jewelry is most commonly seen in the form of bracelets and anklets that are welded in place, rather than built using a traditional jewelry clasp. This means, they are not removable like a regular piece of jewelry.

This can be done for rings as well, however, they are less "permanent" as you can simply roll the chain off of your finger. With bracelets and anklets, the chain is fitted to your size, making it the perfect everyday accessory that's there to stay.

How does it work?

Starting with choosing a solid gold or silver chain that speaks to your style and personality, we take the chain and fit it to your wrist, inclusive of any charms (if chosen). Once the size feels comfortable with enough space to move, we properly lock our jump ring and cut off the excess chain. In place of a clasp, a jump ring is closed around both ends of a chain and welded together, making it endless or infinite.

So what's with the hype?

Glad you asked. The exciting thing about permanent jewelry is how easy it is to make wearing jewelry. You never have to put on or take off permanent jewelry, worry about tarnishing (as we only use real gold or silver materials), or struggle to put on jewelry by yourself.

Permanent jewelry is also the perfect option to commemorate and celebrate. Think "sparking' the occasion. Weld on a bracelet or anklet as a symbolic gesture of a goal you achieved, an important date like weddings or birthdays, or get your family and friends to together to simply celebrate you!

What should I know before getting a permanent bracelet?

One of the most important factors when considering permanent jewelry is understanding the difference in materials. Several permanent jewelry companies offer gold filled or plated chains or charms because of their appealing price-point. However, when looking at permanent jewelry, these are not viable options that will actually be permanent.

Why? Because permanent jewelry is welded around you, meaning it isn't removable for swimming, showering, or activities that tarnish and decrease the lifespan of gold filled and plated jewelry. That's why gldn grl only uses real gold or silver jewelry, so once it's welded on, it will last as long as possible, never tarnishing, turning green, and actually being "permanent".

What makes gldn grl and the spark spot different from other jewelry companies?

Our permanent jewelry has an edge, as it is one of the only options for real gold and sterling silver permanent jewelry in Ottawa, Ontario that does not charge on your size, offers dozens of real gold charms, and even lets you custom engrave your pieces.

Since we started offering permanent jewelry in 2023, we have always mandated that we would never charge based on someone's size, and we have held true to that even when the competition doesn't.

We are also one of the few jewelry companies in the city to offer engraving, making your permanent bracelet or anklet even more personal and meaningful.

What makes permanent jewelry special, is the fact that it is with you always. It isn't meant to be removed, so adding custom charms or engravings, create a story and differentiate our business from the rest.
